“The desperate cry of Fireburn resonates with any person or people whose freedom, creativity, authenticity, or passion has been squelched by others. The theme of this story empathizes with our brothers and sisters who perished in locations such as Auschwitz, Tiananmen Square, and South Africa, as well as others also persecuted for their religious beliefs, ethnicity, disabilities, and gender.”

The Honorable Myron D. Jackson, Senate President 32nd Legislature of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas, USVI

Fireburn the Screenplay is relatable today, for all races and genders, because humanity’s constant struggle is that of ensuring that all people have the freedom to enjoy their God-given inalienable rights.

Greetings,

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Angela Golden Bryan and I grew up on the beautiful island of St. Croix. I am the author of

Fireburn The Screenplay:
A story of passion ignited, based on the history of St. Croix

When I wrote Fireburn it was with the desire to share this little-known piece of USVI history with the world, along with helping the economy of the islands. By having Fireburn the Movie filmed in the islands, the economy will be boosted through the film production, as well as through the ensuing tourism.

Please help us get Fireburn the Screenplay into the hands of as many people as possible. The more people that purchase and read it, the more likely it will come to the attention of those in a position to help produce Fireburn the Movie. There is no way that my team and I can succeed without YOUR COLLABORATION.

We need you in order to make this dream a reality and so many will benefit from this project. We thank you in advance!

What people are saying about Fireburn the Screenplay:

Fireburn is a powerful tribute to our ancestors and the price they paid for having the audacity to fight for a better life. Bryan has exquisitely crafted an exciting and informative movie screenplay by creatively blending an historical event with the many flavors of St. Croix’s rich culture. Her inclusion of our family’s participation in this historic event has made me incredibly proud. Be prepared to experience a myriad of emotions…

Eugenie G. Kelley

Educator and author of Masego’s Special Gift

I grew up on St. Croix hearing stories about Contract Day, Queen Mary, and the Fireburn. This Fireburn is written in a refreshing screenplay format and gives insight into an historic event that forever shaped the economy of the islands. Whether you have West Indian roots or not, Bryan’s blend of fiction and history serves as an entertaining and gripping tale of passion that all can relate to. As the owner of the historical governor’s mansion built in 1655, this screenplay took me back in time and left me with a new perspective and appreciation…

Dr. David Doward

Spine and Sports Medicine Physician, Former NFL Jacksonville team physician

…a remarkably identifiable ‘hero’s journey’ filled with the good, the bad, and the ugly of a pivotal time in the history of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her vivid descriptions, humor, and historical references make this a must-read for young and old alike. As a former teacher for seventeen years on St. Croix, USVI, I can say that Fireburn would create an entertaining experience for any student curious about Carribean history…

Gloria Ayot, Ph.D.

Professor Emerita, Eastern Washington University, author and illustrator of children's books

Bryan’s tale is an electrifying and visceral experience that would translate beautifully to the big screen. The characters come alive, bringing the reader a taste of Caribbean history, drama, and romance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Angela Golden Bryan is an acclaimed storyteller and actress. She grew up on the beautiful island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, in a culture rich in oral tradition. She experienced what are still long-held traditions today, including the recitation of folktales in homes and at family gatherings, and more formal poetic recitations in schools and churches.

As a child, she listened in fascination to stories about Anansi, the mischievous spider; became “scared to death” by the goat-foot woman; and was amazed at the bravery of her great-great-grandmother, Moriah, who took part in the history-making event, Fireburn. Eventually, Bryan became the one to tell the stories to her family, and later to her own children. Naturally, she always dreamed of sharing the “Fireburn” story with all of her extended family, community, country, and beyond.

In her career, Bryan was able to combine her love for entertaining and storytelling to excel as an actress and spokesperson, as well as a certified speaker, trainer, and coach with the John Maxwell Team. She has over 15 years of experience in television, film, theater, voice-overs, and commercials, and is an “edutainer”—a keynote speaker and trainer providing education and inspiration in an entertaining manner. She has written for the internationally published devotionals, Light from and the Word and Vista.

Bryan lives in South Florida with her husband and they both look forward to visits from their two adult “children” as well as traveling and returning to visit their beloved islands.
